Happy Earth Day!

“The environment is where we all meet; where all have a mutual interest; it is the one thing all of us share.” - Lady Bird Johnson

The health of the planet is very important. It's our home and life support.

“A nation that destroys its soils destroys itself. Forests are the lungs of our land, purifying the air and giving fresh strength to our people.” - Franklin D. Roosevelt

We can also all enjoy the natural world and all of it's beauty and wonder.

“Live in each season as it passes; breathe the air, drink the drink, taste the fruit, and resign yourself to the influence of each.” - Henry David Thoreau

We humans still treat our home planet rather poorly by polluting, plundering, and exploiting the resources.

“Here is your country. Cherish these natural wonders, cherish the natural resources, cherish the history and romance as a sacred heritage, for your children and your children’s children. Do not let selfish men or greedy interests skin your country of its beauty, its riches or its romance.” - Theodore Roosevelt

Having political support in the destruction isn't promising neither.

“I used to think that top environmental problems were biodiversity loss, ecosystem collapse and climate change. I thought that thirty years of good science could address these problems. I was wrong. The top environmental problems are selfishness, greed and apathy, and to deal with these we need a cultural and spiritual transformation. And we scientists don’t know how to do that.” - Gus Speth

We can and must do better for the future generations.

“A true conservationist is a man who knows that the world is not given by his fathers, but borrowed from his children.” - John James Audubon

We all have a birthright to the natural resources of the planet.

"They must all have the same equal rights to the elements which Nature has provided for the sustaining of life—to air, to water, and to land. For to deny the equal right to the elements necessary to the maintaining of life is to deny the equal right to life." - Henry George

We also all have a responsibility to maintain the resources properly.

“Humankind has not woven the web of life. We are but one thread within it. Whatever we do to the web, we do to ourselves. All things are bound together … all things connect.” - Chief Seattle

How we treat the planet affects all of us.

“You cannot get through a single day without having an impact on the world around you. What you do makes a difference, and you have to decide what kind of difference you want to make.” - Jane Goodall

There are efficient ways to steward the earth and resources for the benefit of everyone.

"The tax upon land values is the most just and equal of all taxes. It falls only upon those who receive from society a peculiar and valuable benefit, and upon them in proportion to the benefit they receive. It is the taking by the community, for the use of the community, of that value which is the creation of the community. It is the application of the common property to common uses." - Henry George

Let's treat every day like it is Earth Day!
