Drug addicts have shaped the police force but if were to find a cure besides just punish the offender then perhaps drug addiction should actually shape our public policy about efficient land use.

Federal and state officers are increasingly policing for profits. The ATF was engaging in churning operations. The same lucrative tactic happens on the highways where state police troll for cash. Yet another reason to decriminalize drugs. Police, like doctors, should work themselves out of a job by helping the rest of society wither away crime. Economic justice — enjoying a secure income — will make us all better behaved citizens.
