More soldiers are killed by their own hand than by an enemy, saying something about war, human nature, and government priorities. The soldier suicide rate has reached its highest in ten years of war. While soldiers with multiple combat tours commit more suicide, a substantial number are committed by soldiers who are never deployed. And the US economy — which we could heal — is partly why.
