Our favorite points from the Justice for All
project:
Corporate welfare accounted for more than $167 billion in government
giveaways in 1995 alone. Giant corporations such as McDonald's and
Pillsbury have received millions of taxpayer dollars to advertise their
products overseas. Oil and mining companies have reaped huge profits by
gaining cheap access to public lands.
One of the myths of corporate welfare is that corporations use government
giveaways to create more jobs. In 1995, the 500 largest U.S.-based
corporations slashed 400,000 jobs from their payrolls. Sheesh!
