World Bank Sponsors Online Debate on Poverty
The Progress Report continues to believe that the IMF should be closed and the World Bank should be either closed or drastically reformed. Both organizations are corrupt and secretive. However, we think this new opportunity to participate in a debate may be genuine. The World Bank may be seriously interested to see what ideas we come up with. Therefore please read this short article and consider joining in!
You Can Contribute to the World Bank's Influential Poverty Report
You are invited to participate in an on-line debate which will contribute to the development of the World Bank's 'World Development Report on Poverty 2000/01'.To SIGN UP, and for further information on how the conference will work, please see this web-site for the Bretton Woods Project:

Between 21st February and 31st March an exciting on-line debate will take place on the first draft of the World Bank's World Development Report on Poverty 2000/01 (WDR).
In September 2000 the World Bank will publish its once-a-decade World Development Report on Poverty. See http://www.worldbank.org/poverty/wdrpoverty
The World Bank's research reports have a significant impact on development thinking and programmes and generate major global press coverage. The WDR is the Bank's flagship publication, and over 150,000 copies are printed, a large number of which will be distributed free across the world.
For the first time ever, the Bank is widely circulating a draft WDR. The Bretton Woods Project and New Policy Institute have been selected to independently run a global online discussion of the draft.
Significantly, the Bank is assigning great importance to the debate, and Ravi Kanbur, lead author of the WDR will respond to the final conference summary. Participation is your opportunity to voice comments on the draft and potentially influence the final report.
Will you participate, or do you think the World Bank is not sincere? What's your opinion? Tell your views to The Progress Report:
