Find Out About Geophilos

A new journal called Geophilos is being launched by the Land Research Trust in London, England.

This is not a mere promise, it's for real. The first issue is on my desk right now and it's exciting. Here's how Geophilos describes itself:

Geophilos will serve scholars, public officials and socially concerned citizens who need to be informed on the issues at the interface between culture and nature.

Published twice a year, Geophilos will identify the latest trends -- at both the global and local levels -- that shape the welfare of people and their communities, to enable policy-makers to formulate the optimum strategies for addressing the challenging issues of the 21st century.

To subscribe, send $45, or £28 (UK), or $85 (Australia), or $65 (Canada), to:

The founding editor of Geophilos, Fred Harrison, points out: "Geophilos is seeking to identify the conditions that would enable humanity to take the next step forward in its destiny. The challenge is to empower everyone to achieve his or her aspirations as moral beings within communities that are socially and ecologically responsible."

What will you see in Geophilos? The first issue includes articles on land reform, income distribution, how we look at the Third World, and many other subjects. These are not boring essays -- they are serious articles and yes, charts and graphs are included. Check it out.

You and I know that our civilization faces some pretty basic, fundamental challenges. Too often, these challenges are ignored or treated only as temporary difficulties, while serious solutions are postponed and avoided. Geophilos intends to get to the root and open up a better way.
